About Cairns Physical Culture Club
At Cairns Physical Culture Club (Cairns Physie for short), we proudly teach the BJP Physical Culture curriculum. BJP Physie is the oldest running and most prestigious Physical Culture establishment in Australia. For over 125 years, BJP has provided a national platform for Physie clubs to come together to engage in competitions and camaraderie.
“Physie is an elegant way of developing not only fitness but also grace, strength and focus in our girls and women. At BJP, what we are most proud of is how Physie weaves its way throughout the lives of Australian families. Generations of women have discovered lifelong friendships, a true sense of community and a sport for life in Physie.” – Jackie Rawlings, BJP Physical Culture
Empowering girls for life
There is an aura of confidence around Physie girls of all ages. Taught to stand tall, with strength and pride, they are team players committed to achieving their goals.
Cairns Physical culture club focuses on developing the self-esteem of its students. By teaching them to have a positive relationship with their bodies, we help students blossom with confidence and self-assurance.
BJP Physie is passionate about nurturing students’ total wellbeing, in both mind and body. Physie is an accepting and encouraging team sport, where every member is supported and motivated to be the best they can be.
Meet the Teachers at Cairns Physie!
BJP Physical Culture has been a passion of mine for over 25 years and during this time I have been an instructor and competed personally at National level. I have achieved National Champion, also wining at State level in the Over 50’s section and also making National Finals on numerous occasions. I have instructed for many years and look forward to passing on my love for Physie, as there is so much more Physie can offer. Whilst improving our overall fitness and well-being, we are also creating life long friendships along the way. I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Matwork Pilates Instructor and believe strength, Pilates and Physie all compliment each other. I very much look forward to seeing you on the physie floor soon.
I have been doing Physie since I was seven and instantly fell in love. I started Physie in Armidale then moved to Brisbane and now a proud inaugural member of Cairns Physie. I love every aspect of Physie from practising at class to getting all done up for competitions. I’ve competed at both state and national levels. I have achieved many successes in Physie but my favourite is the friendships I have developed on the way. This year is my first year of teaching but has been my dream to teach fellow Physie girls. I hope to pass on my knowledge and love of the sport to all that I teach. I can’t wait to teach all the beautiful ladies at Cairns Physie.
